Meet the SBS Team
Rebecca Richards is excited to be working with Silver Beehive Studio as she begins her career as a Metalsmith. Her creative metals work often explores plant life native to New England through the use of metal, enamel, and other materials.
Rebecca graduated with honors from Maine College of Art in 2020 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Metalsmithing and Jewelry. Her skills and dedication to art have been recognized by the William Randolph Hearst Scholars Award, MJSA Jewelry Foundation, the Albert K. Murray Scholarship, and the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen.
Rebecca’s jewelry has already been included in the 2019 Society North American Goldsmith Student Exhibition, Chicago, Illinois, and the Stomping Ground: The 72nd Annual Community Exhibition in Peterborough, New Hampshire, at the Institute of Art, Sharon Arts Center Gallery, and in the Mecamorphosis Fashion Show, Bench-Marks, and the Tool at Hand, at Maine College of Art, in Portland, Maine.
When not creating with metal, Rebecca loves to knit, explore nature and bake; family favorites include strawberry rhubarb pie, tiramisu, and ginger snaps. On a rainy day, she can often be found reading and being poked to cuddle by her two very opinionated cats.
Christi Mitman loves to be a part of creativity in action. As a teacher, she is happiest when working with a team of kids or adults who are dedicated to learning and growing. Silver Beehive Studio is offering her an opportunity to do this in a new realm. Christi’s favorite question is ‘What if…?’
When not busy with Silver Beehive Studio and teaching, she loves to read, hike and swim. She owns every mystery that Agatha Christie ever wrote. Young adult books and mysteries are favorites! Sitting on a mountaintop always fills her with a sense of wonder and appreciation for where she lives, here in the western mountains of Maine.
Stephan Mitman is most happy when he is in the studio creating, on the trail hiking, traveling with the family or eating great food! Mitman has been making jewelry for over 30 years in many different mediums. From 2016-2019 he worked in self-imposed studio isolation creating, experimenting, elaborating and developing new silver ring forms and collections.
In 2019 Mitman created the Silver Beehive Studio, an online retail silver jewelry production company. 'Mit' is “Super excited” to work with the awesome team of Christi and Rebecca to begin sharing innovative silver ring designs that help men and women all over the globe “Intensify your personality and make your fashion statement”
